The
Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department
is celebrating its 75th Anniversary! Although
an electrical engineering degree has been offered
at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez since
it’s founding in 1911, it wasn’t until 1928
when the University hired Prof. George F. Anton
as an electrical engineering instructor that
the discipline really took off. One year later
a formal committee was established with the
objective of structuring a competitive electrical
engineering program.
